Yet again, thanks to the wonders of YouTubes, “Related” sidebar we have discovered new music, well new to us. David Whitfield, never heard of him? Well he was the first UK male vocalist to earn a gold disc. We are constantly amazed at the number of crooners that were around in the 1950s, because today we only hear of Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra et al. Whitfield’s voice reminds us of Josef Locke, but without the accent. It too can hurt the ears at times, and the song above is a quiet one, check out his rendition of Cara Mia its like a finely crafted piece of furniture [what have you been drinking? -ed]
He really belts it out, how we wish we could control our respective voices with such smooth precision.
